Google to create partnership with Trinity College
Google has announced a new partnership with Trinity College which it said will change the way computers are taught in Irish schools.
1,000 teachers across the country will be provided with miniature coding devices - with the hope of encouraging students to learn the skills needed in the digital economy.
The three-year scheme also hopes to bring the IT skills of teachers themselves up to standard.
Education Minister Ruairí Quinn said in the age of tablets and smartphones - the computer skills of teachers are often far below their students.
"This isn't new, children have been ahead of their parents for generations in terms of technology," he said.
"What this programme will do is to enable to teachers to catch up on their pupils."
